TVS products are sold and installed through a global network of companies called authorized dealers. These companies are selected by TVS Engineering / DSG Dokter for their potential and ability to properly represent, sell, install, service and support TVS products and services.

All TVS Engineering / DSG Dokter dealers have a workshop, TVS dealer flashtool equipment and can use our online dealer support. Some of these dealers may have a webshop on which they are authorized to sell TVS products as well. Beware of companies that claim to sell TVS products but are not authorized or sell their own products. Only here are listed all TVS authorized dealers.

Authorized TVS dealers could be divided into different categories: distributors and repair- and/or performance centers.

In some countries (e.g. China, Russia and UK) we have TVS distributors who maintain a subdealer network for us. TVS distributors are responsible for their own subdealer companies and represent TVS Engineering / DSG Dokter in their country.

In addition, we make a distinction between repair and performance centers. Most authorized TVS dealers are capable of performing both repairs and installing TVS (hardware and software) performance products. However, there are authorized dealers who only focus on repairs or performance.

Engine performance upgrades can be any hardware modification performed to your engine (setup) to improve performance or make it possible to run increased performance.

Nowadays almost every tuning related company offers aftermarket performance parts who replace the factory ones to increase performance further. Examples are upgraded air intake systems, downpipes or upgraded intercoolers.

In addition fuel system upgrades or reinforced engine components (e.g. pistons, connecting rods) belong to engine  hardware upgrades as well. These do not always directly result in increased performance, but are for some applications simply needed to run higher performance reliable.

At TVS Engineering hardware performance upgrades are needed from Stage II+ ECU software. This software upgrade requires at least a custom intake and high flow downpipe. Use the vehicle selector to see which hardware modifications TVS Engineering recommends for your model at any software Stage we offer.

In addition, TVS Engineering always recommends to install performance upgrades from reputable brands. Unfortunately there are also major performance differences within this. Feel free to contact us about the best performance upgrades for your model.

Installing of engine performance upgrades like custom intake air systems, exhaust systems and upgrade fuel systems belong to the daily activities of our workshop technicians and mechanics.

We always recommend you to order engine performance upgrades through TVS Engineering for the best and highest quality parts, correct fitment and lowest prices. Too often we receive low quality performance upgrades with poor fitment supplied by customers which made us decide to only install our own supplied performance upgrades.

Customers located in the Benelux Union and near to the German border are advised to make an appointment at TVS headquarters in the Netherlands.

Additionally for limited models TVS ECU software could be installed at a limited number of authorized TVS dealers. Only authorized dealers who have an ECU license on their TVS flashtool equipment are able to install TVS ECU software. Find your nearest authorized TVS dealer at the dealer locater and use the vehicle selector to see if ECU software for your model is supported at authorized dealers.

Only individual customers and automotive companies who are established in countries where no TVS dealer is located can consider TVS Flash. This gives end customers the possibility to reflash their vehicle from home. Only limited models and ‘off the shelf’ tunes up to Stage 2+ are supported.

Since TVS only delivers custom made software solutions based on customer requirements and wishes this differs for every application. It normally takes 2 – 3 hours to complete the entire process from performing diagnostics up to data logging and analyzing the installed custom software on correct functioning (for only ECU software). The entire process for custom ECU + TCU software will take 3 – 4 hours at TVS Engineering headquarter. Normally we aim to be ready while you are waiting, but of course there are exceptions. For example individually calibrating fully customized hardware setups with upgrade turbochargers will take longer.

TVS Engineering offers custom software solutions for every VAG engine application: from improved performance for stock vehicles up to customized solutions for true motorsport applications. TVS Engineering offers the best and widest ranging ECU software solutions available on the market. These are available for different performance levels, supporting various fuel grades and are suitable for both with or without any hardware modifications.

Any vehicle will strongly benefit from TVS Engineering’s custom ECU software which truly improves the performance, drivability and/or fuel consumption of your engine!

For stock vehicles without any engine (setup) modifications, we recommend our Stage II software to totally transform your vehicles performance. Since at TVS Stage I is only a low budget solution for a mild increase in performance. With TVS Stage II the factory software will be fully recalibrated to achieve maximum performance within all safety limits. For vehicles with a modified engine setup (e.g. upgrade air intake or downpipe) and stock turbo TVS recommends custom Stage II+ software. TVS Engineering is known of achieving the best performance from VAG engines without sacrificing drivability, reliability and durability! To realize this every vehicle at TVS is individually (re)calibrated and the ECU software is custom written based on vehicle condition, customer wishes and requirements. 

For a perfectly running DSG equipped vehicle the ECU software is as important as the DSG software, since the functioning of the DSG strongly depends on real-time engine running parameters. Too often we notice incorrect ECU adjustments (e.g. manipulated engine torque calculations or disabled DSG torque intervention commands) performed by ‘tuners’ resulting in potential performance loss, drivability- / shifting issues and transmission wear.

Developing both engine and gearbox software in-house gives TVS the ability to perfectly match your engine to the gearbox and vice versa! This results in an incredible driving experience which simply couldn’t be compared to individual purchased ECU and TCU tunes.

In addition custom TVS ECU software has various unique optional features like enhanced temperature protection and optional motorsport (hard cut) rev limiter or exhaust crackles / pops and bangs. See the optional ECU features for the full overview.

Chiptuning is modifying the software of the Engine Control Unit (ECU) to achieve increased performance, improved drivability and/or a lower fuel consumption. We at TVS always aim to achieve the best of all aspects!

After TVS technicians (or our authorized dealers) performed extended powertrain diagnostics we connect to the vehicle’s ECU to collect identification information and take a read of the factory software. This information is uploaded to the TVS Engineering HQ server from where our high educated automotive engineers could start optimizing the factory software. Thereafter the custom made TVS software is returned and installed on the vehicle. Finally, the vehicle is extensively checked and data logged to guarantee a correct and safe software recalibration.

Custom TVS software enhances and optimizes the performance of your engine and transmission always within safe limits whereby it does not shorten the lifetime of your engine or powertrain. Vehicle manufacturers always apply a large safety margin on engines, because vehicles have to perform well under all circumstances worldwide and have to deal with diversity in fuel and oil quality, climates and conditions. TVS benefits from this high tolerance of factory margin.

This together with custom made software from our high educated automotive engineers, who understand all ECU functioning strategies and have in-depth knowledge about internal combustion engines, results in zero impact on the lifetime of your engine or powertrain.

For those who would like to achieve performance numbers far above factory ones with TVS Stage III or IV software, there are for sure a number of possible risks associated with engine and powertrain life span.

The factory warranty on a (new) vehicle is a legal obligation. This is often a period of two or three years. If your car is out of warranty, nothing will change when you perform chiptuning.

However, TVS Engineering usually performs chiptuning for new vehicles that are still in the warranty period. We often work here closely together with or on behalf of various VAG dealers whereby factory warranty remains and therefore nothing changes.

In addition, it often varies by VAG dealer whether the factory warranty is maintained or not. The official protocol at most vehicle manufacturers is that if an aftermarket modification causes a problem with the vehicle, then only the part of the vehicle affected will not be covered. So this does not mean the entire vehicle warranty is void.

TVS offers lifetime warranty on their software as long as you own the car. Every vehicle visiting TVS Engineering is extensively checked and data logged before and after chiptuning to guarantee a correct and safe software calibration. This means a vehicle that is running custom made TVS software will not suffer any reliability issues when properly maintained and used. In the very unlikely case that there is an issue later, TVS will look to resolve it if it is clear that problem was caused by the software upgrade.

In addition you are assured of the following:

• Extended vehicle diagnostics and custom made software by one of our high educated automotive engineers
• The performance gains specified by TVS if the engine is in good condition
• Warranty on correct and proper functioning of our software as long as you own the car
• Free reflashing of TVS software when it is lost (e.g. after dealer update) as long as you own the car
• Free restoring to stock if desired as long as you own the car

If your vehicle is in for regular maintenance at a VAG dealer, TVS software will not be overwritten. This only happens when the dealer performs a so called software update.

TVS offers lifetime warranty on their software as long as you own the car. With this we will restore the software for you if it is overwritten. We usually do this based on the new software update and old software modifications. In many cases this is warranty and therefore free of charge. Sometimes we need to charge hourly wages.

TVS Engineering creates a software backup of each vehicle and stores a copy in their database. This makes it possible to restore the software to its original state at any time when desired. In addition, TVS offers lifetime warranty on their software as long as you own the car. With this we will restore the software back to stock for free.

Since every TVS tune is custom made based on customer requirements and wishes, it is very unusual the customer is not satisfied with the results. In addition every customer do have the opportunity to test our software extensively. Then we are able to process any feedback if desired. If a customer is still not satisfied afterwards, TVS will restore the software to original condition and refund the purchase price.

For applications where even our unique software solutions and upgrade racing clutches not withstand performance from high performance applications, TVS Engineering offers DSG gearbox conversions. The basic TVS DSG conversion kits contains the following parts:

• New upgraded DSG gearbox included mechatronic and clutch
• All additional parts needed for the conversion like flywheels, driveshaft(s), wiring adapters, engine- and gearbox mounts, etc. (varies by model)
• TVS conversion software included immobilizer solutions (if necessary)

On high power applications almost all VAG DSG gearboxes will have mechanical limitations resulting in a very limited lifespan and/or gearbox failure. Even with our DSG racing clutches and unique DSG software solutions gearboxes will not withstand all power potential from true high performance engines. For these applications we recommend our DQ500 conversion kits.

In addition TVS Engineering offers DQ250 conversions for DQ200 equipped vehicles. These “dry clutch” DQ200 gearboxes are known to have a lot of issues like excessive clutch wear and gearbox breakdown already at low performance. For example with chiptuning almost all 1.6 TDI, 1.4 T(F)SI and 1.8T(F)SI engines the DQ200 transmission is the limiting factor. For this reason we often limit the engine torque at about 350Nm for the reliability and lifespan of the DQ200. When you would like to achieve the full potential from these engines a TVS DQ250 conversion is necessary.

We do not recommend installing a TVS DSG conversion kit yourself at home. First of all decent knowledge and mechanical skills are needed. It is possible to deliver a preprogrammed mechatronic with software for a functioning conversion. However, customizing the software is only possible at TVS Engineering / DSG Dokter HQ and authorized TVS dealers.

TVS DSG racing clutches are designed to increase clutch torque capacity to the maximum without sacrificing reliability or drivability. To achieve this we carefully balanced the friction surface area, friction materials, plate designs and clutch pack shimming. A perfect balance between different aspects is the key for an excellent performing DSG racing clutch!

Our Stage III software is the strongest DSG software available on the market wherein maximum physically possible clutch pressures and extremely high stock clutch torque capacities are achieved. If your engine application produces more torque than the maximum supported engine torque of our Stage III software, you simply do need an upgraded race clutch!

TVS Engineering offers upgraded race clutches for almost all “wet clutch” DSG transmissions: DQ250, DQ380, DQ381, DQ500 and DL501. TVS Engineering has consciously chosen not to develop an upgrade race clutch for the “dry clutch” DQ200, because this transmission is simply too weak. We recommend our DQ250 conversion for DQ200 applications running above 350Nm engine torque.

TVS DQ250 DSG racing clutches are running strong and reliable for years without any major modifications after the first release back in 2009. Based on this knowledge and experience TVS further expanded their DSG race clutch program with the DQ380/DQ381, DQ500 and DL501.

For a perfectly running DSG transmission the ECU software is as important as the DSG software, since the functioning of the DSG strongly depends on real-time engine running parameters.

The combination of our specialism in both Engine and Gearbox tuning is what makes TVS software packages unique. Developing both Engine and Gearbox software in-house gives us the ability to perfectly match your Engine to the Gearbox and vice versa! This results in an incredible driving experience which simply couldn’t be compared to individual purchased ECU and TCU tunes.

TVS Engineering is able to match their gearbox software to ECU tunes from other brands. However, one important condition is that there are no incorrect ECU adjustments performed in the third parties ECU software like manipulated engine torque calculations or disabled DSG torque intervention commands.

Engine tuning always go along with reprogramming the DSG software. Most tuning companies still claim that DSG software upgrades are not needed for tuned vehicles. Often tricks are being used to disable DSG torque intervention commands or engine torque calculations are manipulated to stay within factory margins and avoid DSG torque limitations. All these types of incorrect ECU adjustments along with stock DSG software will result in excessive clutch wear, shifting problems, potential performance loss and gearbox breakdown.

Many stock VAG equipped DSG vehicles suffer from factory drivability issues. Extremely poor shifting strategies which don't match stock engine characteristics properly, resulting in too early shifting at low load and too late shifting at high load. Basically all VAG DSG transmissions will strongly benefit from a TVS Drivability upgrade.

The functioning of the DSG transmission strongly depends on real-time engine running parameters received through the CAN bus. The transmission control unit (TCU) of a tuned vehicle with stock DSG software receives usually incorrect data from the engine, resulting in incorrect (or limited) initial TCU calculations.

Initially no issues might be noticed, but after a period of learning incorrect adaption values and increased wear (due to increased slip) the clutch will breakdown. Besides all the risks of excessive wear and breakdown, the DSG needs to be reprogrammed to perfectly match the new engine characteristics. In other words matching shifting strategies, modified shifting speeds and increased torque capacity and oil pressures will be needed to fully utilize the vehicles performance potential!

TVS DSG software upgrades are certainly not only needed for tuned vehicles. Basically all VAG DSG transmissions will strongly benefit from a TVS Drivability upgrade which truly transforms the performance of a vehicle and even massively increases the drivetrain lifespan due reduced flywheel, clutch and gearbox wear!

In almost all cases official VAG software updates don’t solve your DSG transmission problems. The explanation is simple: TVS discovered that most DSG issues are deeply hidden in the basics of the factory software. We solved these issues by completely recalibrating the factory software. An official VAG software update, on the other hand, is only a minor modification whereby the base software is still incorrect and don’t solve your DSG issues.

When an official VAG dealer performs a gearbox software update, custom TVS software will be overwritten and lost. For this reason we offer our customers a free lifetime service by reflashing the TCU with their purchased TVS software. In case the customer wants custom TVS software based on an updated software version a small fee will be charged.

Since every TVS tune is custom made based on customer requirements and wishes, it is very unusual the customer is not satisfied with the results. In addition every customer do have the opportunity to test our software extensively. Then we are able to process any feedback if desired. If a customer is still not satisfied afterwards, TVS will restore the software to original condition and refund the purchase price.

EN: What are the legal considerations for chiptuning?

TVS provides technically sophisticated products and services and strives to comply with all applicable regulations. However, it remains the customer’s sole responsibility to ensure that any chiptuning or vehicle modifications complies with local laws and regulations.

Guidelines for customers in the Netherlands:

• A power increase of up to 19% is generally considered acceptable without additional legal approvals.
• Such modifications must be reported to your insurance provider.
• The vehicle must continue to meet all APK (periodic vehicle inspection) requirements.

Modifications exceeding a 19% power increase may require re-certification by the RDW and could affect your insurance coverage and road tax classification.

We strongly recommend consulting your insurance provider, RDW, and other relevant authorities before proceeding with any tuning. TVS cannot be held liable for any legal, regulatory, or insurance-related consequences following tuning. The customer is solely responsible for ensuring full compliance.

In many cases DSG repairs can be prevented by checking and maintaining your DSG in time or optimizing the DSG software by TVS Engineering / DSG Doktor.

During an in-depth diagnosis TVS Engineering analyses the overall condition of the DSG transmission and drivetrain. One of our technicians analyses your vehicle during a test drive using the latest diagnostic equipment. After this you will receive an overview of the condition of your vehicle and where applicable a cause for the problem your vehicle is experiencing. Changing the DSG oil included new oil filter is necessary for all “wet clutch” VAG DSG models every 60.000 kilometers according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For high mileage vehicles a DSG oil change can also be of added value for the “dry clutch” DQ200 and is often combined with extended diagnostics and/or repairs at DSG Dokter – the Netherlands.

TVS Flash is only a solution for customers living in countries where no TVS distributor is located or unreachable distance of ± 300 km. In all other situations we recommend you to visit our HQ or an authorized TVS dealer for extended diagnostics, installing software and excellent support.

The TVS Flash package included one license (ECU or TCU) costs €149,- excl. tax. The same package included two licenses (ECU + TCU) costs €199,- excl. tax.

Website visitors are only able to purchase the Personal Flasher from the Webshop when there is no TVS dealer located within a radius of 300 kilometer. However, we always recommend to install TVS software at your nearest TVS dealer.

The TVS Flash package contains:

• TVS Personal Flasher OBDII dongle
• USB to OBDII cable
• TVS Flash interface
• Instruction manual

Please note that no TVS tune is included in the package or stored on the Personal Flasher. The purchased tune needs to be requested from TVS as instructed in the TVS Flash manual.

The only thing in addition to the TVS Flash package you need is a laptop with an USB connection. Obvious you should be able to follow the (in English written) instruction manual carefully.

You can use the Personal Flasher for flashing as often as you want on your own vehicle. For example reflashing back to factory software, switching between TVS tunes or requesting optional software features later.

No, your personal flasher will be linked and locked to your vehicle which makes it not possible to flash multiple vehicles with the same Personal Flasher.

Yes, for example reflashing back to factory software before visiting a VAG dealer within warranty is a free service TVS always offers and thereby is included in TVS Flash as well. The only thing you have to do for this is requesting your stock software as well on the TVS custom software request form.

This error could be one of a few things:

1) The USB port on your laptop could be fault. Please try a different port.

2) On Windows 8 and 10 devices USB Driver Signatures have to be disabled manually. Please follow the instructions in the TVS Flash manual carefully.

TVS ECU & TCU Stages up to Stage 2+ are supported by TVS Flash. Special files, customizations and Stage 3 or higher tunes are not available by TVS Flash. These are only available at authorized TVS Dealers or TVS Headquarters.
