World’s First DQ381 2022+ G04 Unlock & Flash Solution

TVS proudly announces a true world-first breakthrough: the successful unlock of the DQ381 G04 Bootloader. From now on, these DQ381 DSG transmissions can be flashed through OBD after a one-time unlock. Our Plug&Play Hardware solution is no longer our only solution.
A Year of Intensive Development
What makes this breakthrough truly exceptional is that it is the result of a fully in-house development. Unlocking bootloaders is not our core business, yet when no solution became available elsewhere, TVS decided to take on the challenge ourselves. We invested heavily in knowledge, specialized equipment, and our engineering team. The learning curve was steep, but we are proud that more than a year of hard work has now paid off.
Traditionally, our tuning has focused on reverse engineering the application software to develop custom functionality and routines. For this project, we went much deeper – all the way down to the core of the hardware. By pushing beyond the usual limits of software-level work, our engineers succeeded in breaking a lock that was long believed to be impossible.
How It Works

Performance unlock directly at the mechatronic without the need of removing the unit from the vehicle.
- After the initial unlock at the mechatronic, a full TVS reflash is required to finalize the process.

After completing the unlock process, further OBD reflashing with TVS tooling is possible.

Unlocking is exclusive to TVS reflashing. Third-party tuning tools or software will not work.
- A factory return-to-stock flash remains possible, allowing any mechatronic to be restored to the original software via OBD.
⚠️ Important notes:
Third-party reflashing attempts will fail and can render the vehicle non-drivable until recovered with factory or TVS tools.
A factory or TVS return-to-stock flash will fully remove all TVS modifications and re-lock the unit.

✅ Audi – S3 (8Y), TTS, SQ2
✅ Seat/Cupra – Leon, Ateca, Formentor
✅ Škoda – Superb, Octavia
⚠️ Important:
This solution does not apply to DQ381 2025+ models (e.g. Golf 8.5 and equivalents) nor to DQ500 models (e.g. Audi RS3 8Y, Cupra Formentor VZ5).

Current Availability
At this stage, the unlock can deliberately only be performed directly by TVS Engineers, with the following options available:

Ship the mechatronic or TCU directly to TVS HQ

(Limited on-site unlock days via selected distributors may be organized depending on demand.)

Launch Promotion
To celebrate this milestone, TVS offers a Launch Promotion, valid only until 31 October 2025.
👉 During this limited period, the unlock procedure itself is completely free of charge when carried out at TVS HQ (Netherlands).
Within the Launch Promotion you only pay for:

The standard charge of your selected TVS TCU tuning

Any shipping costs if you send in the mechatronic separately
⚠️ After 31 October 2025, unlocking fees are expected to apply, with the aim to keep them within 10% of the regular tuning fees.
What’s Next
We will soon start a controlled beta rollout via our dealer network. A secure dealer tooling solution is under development and expected Q4 2025.
Because of the sensitive nature of this breakthrough, TVS has chosen a deliberate, phased rollout. This ensures security, protects our proprietary technology, and safeguards the enormous effort invested in reaching this milestone. At the same time, it guarantees that every unlock carried out meets the highest standards of safety, consistency, and performance.
